ーーブラウジーニョさん（彼の愛称＝Brawzinho）あなたは見事に2022年のPWAウェイブチャンピオンになりましたね。おめでとうございます。日本にはあなたのファンがたくさんいます。
あなたは風がスタボーでもポートでも、波が大きくても小さくても、そしてジャンプでもウェイブライディングでも、世界最高レベルの演技を見せてくれる、世界最強のオールラウンドなウェイブライダーだと思います。僕はあなたのウェイブパフォーマンスは全てのウェイブライダーにとっての最高の模範になると思っています。そこであなたにお願いがあります。以下の質問にお答えいただけませんでしょうか。
MB イエス、あなたの言葉に感謝します。質問にお答えします。
1Q あなたは2013年に初めてPWAウェイブワールドチャンピオンになり、今年９年振りに２度目のチャンピオンになりました（PWAランキング表参照）。かつて24歳だった元チャンピオンが、今年33歳で新たなチャンピオンになるのは相当困難なことであったずです。過去の最高レベルを現在の最高レベルにバージョンアップするために、あなたは何を考え、どのように行動してきましたか。今年の成功の一番の要因は何だったと思いますか。
MB 年齢を重ねるにつれて少しずつスマートな考え方ができるようになったと思います。トレーニングをうまく整理し、いくつかの重要な瞬間に自分の心をコントロールできるようになった。もちろんそれは今でも難しいことであり、いい方向にいくこともあれば、その逆もあるわけだけど。たしかなことは、僕は毎日のようにセイリングを続けた、ということ。風がオンショアでもガスティでも、どんなに厳しい条件でもトレーニングを続け、そこにエネルギーを注ぎ込んだ。同時に可能な限り、自分の道具をチューニングした。少し旅も減らした。その結果、コンテストに常にフレッシュな状態で臨むことができた。
2Q 日本のウェイブライダーにアドバイスをお願いします。あなたにもボトムターンやトップターンに悩んだ時期はあると思うのですが、今その段階にあるウェイブライダーが今後ウェイブライディングを磨き上げていくために、一番大事なことは何ですか？
MB 今の状態を維持し、細部に注意を払い、可能であれば誰かにあなたのライディングをビデオで撮影してもらうこと。自分の間違いを見つけて、改善に向けてダイレクトに進んでいくのに（自分の姿を客観視できる）ビデオ映像はすごく役に立ちます。それから僕が最も重要だと思っていることは、波（のポケット＝パワーポイント）に近く/タイトにとどまり、できるだけボードスピードを維持することです。
3Q もうひとつアドバイスをお願いします。あなたにもフォワードループができなかった時期があると思うのですが、今その段階にいるウェイブライダーが今後ジャンプ系の様々な技を身につけていくうえで、一番大事なことは何ですか？
MB 海で試してみる前に、一歩一歩、その技を、その動きを確実に理解し、ヴィジュアライズ（視覚化）しておくこと。そしていざトライすると決めたときには、躊躇せずに成功を目指すこと。ローテーションの途中で迷うより、100%でいった方が安全だし、成功にも近づきます。

Pay attention to details and visualize everything
ーーMarcilio, You have successfully become the 2022 PWA Wave Champion. Congratulations. You have many fans in Japan （I am one of them）.
Whether the wind is starboard tack or port tack, whether the waves are big or small, whether it’s jumping or wave performance, I think you’re the world’s strongest all-around wave rider. I think your wave performance sets a great example for all Wave-Riders. So I have a request for you. Could you please answer the following 3 questions for Japanese Wave Riders?
MB I really appreciate your kind words. Its a pleasure to reply your questions.
1Q You became the PWA Wave World Champion for the first time in 2013 and the second time this year after nine years（see PWA ranking table）. It must have been quite difficult for a former champion who was 24 to become a new champion at 33. What did you think and how did you act in order to upgrade the past highest level to the current highest level? What do you think was the biggest factor in your success this year?
MB I think as you get older you also get a bit smarter too, so i think that helped me organize my training a bit better and also keep more control over my mind on some key moments, even though thats always a hard thing to do and it comes and goes. But mostly i just kept on sailing everyday and i put more energy into training in really hard conditions, onshore, gusty winds … also tuned up my gear towards that as much as possible. I also reduced my traveling a bit and that helped me feel more fresh when i was at contests.
2Q Please give some advice to Japanese wave riders. I’m sure you’ve had times when you struggled with bottom turns and top turns, but what is the most important thing for wave riders who are at that stage to improve their wave riding skills in the future?
MB Keep at it, pay attention to detail and if possible have someone to film you, that really helps to see the mistakes and make more direct moves towards improvement 🙂 . I find most important is to stay close/tight on the wave and keep as much board speed as possible .
3Q Please give one more advice to Japanese wave riders. I’m sure there was a time when you weren’t able to do forward loops, but what is the most important thing for wave riders who are at that stage to learn various jumping skills in the future?
MB Take it step by step, truly understand the technique and visualize before trying it on the ocean and when you do decide to try really commit and go for it without holding back. It’s safer to go 100% than to being not sure about it mid rotation .
